New York Times bestselling author Violet Duke kicks off her sizzling-hot new Fourth Down series with a friends-to-lovers romance between a no-strings-attached sports analyst and the hottest damn tomboy he’s ever met.
It’s no secret that sports analyst Jackson Gray doesn’t do relationships. What is a secret, however, is the reason why. Jackson’s life is . . . complicated. And it doesn’t help that his current hands-off “friendship” is with the cute-as-hell new sideline reporter he’s assigned to train. Turns out, not only is the woman damn sweet, she also knows as much about football as he does. Like it or not though, Jackson has to remind himself that sex is the only thing he has to offer . . . until now.
Leila Hart’s fast-growing friendship with Jackson is something she’d never risk, no matter how unbelievably seductive the reward. Becoming an NFL sportscaster has always been the goal, and thanks to Jackson’s fierce support and mentoring, it all finally seems within reach. Problem is, a girl can only take so much of that sexy-as-sin voice whispering dirty, filthy football stats in her ear before she loses all self-control. A workplace romance with Jackson is a disaster waiting to happen, especially for someone with big dreams . . . and secrets of her own.

*** Disclaimer: I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. However, this doesn’t affect my opinion of this book and the words in this review. ***

“The picture you had for your life by now? I can see it, too. I think you’d make an amazing husband and father.”
She saw a turbulent wave of emotions pass over his features, before he murmured quietly, “So it’s not just football you see differently from everyone else.” His eyes ran over the length of her from head to toe, as if seeing something more than a mere sideline reported standing before him.
More of what, she couldn’t name.

It’s very difficult for me to put in words how great I think Jackson’s Trust is, but I’m still going to try. I really want to convince you to pick up this amazing book as fast as you can. When you’ll start reading, you won’t be stopped. I can promise you that. This light-hearted romance contains all the humor, drama, hot scenes and well-rounded characters you want to see in books in the sports romance genre. If you have a couple of hours to escape into a world of football stats, a cute friendship and a couple very funny friends, Jackson’s Trust will be your immediate fix. There are a couple of ingredients that lead to an instant favorite for me: a beautiful cover + a romance in a sports world + friends-turn-lovers romance. Combine all these ingredients and you’ll pull a well-baked Jackson’s Trust out of your oven.

Essentially, it came down to one thing: He trusted her. More than he’d ever trusted any woman in his life.

Jackson is broken and not without reason. Being stabbed in the back one too many times will do that to you. Logically, it makes it difficult for him to put his trust into others. Furthermore, he has a big secret that plays an important role in his life and this book, that warrants him to always be on his guard. Therefore, it was delightful to see how he slowly became attached to Leila and that he gradually destroyed the fortress he build around his heart. To give her all his trust. Even when all evidence pointed in the other direction and everybody that surrounded him thought the worst, he kept his faith in Leila. He always saw the best in her. He always gave Leila the benefit of the doubt.

From the first moment his gaze lands on Leila, when she starts her new job as a side reporter for the NFL, he sees the act she puts up. Leila loves football and she knows her football. She’s a real tomboy, also apparent in the gender of all her friends, who are male. The only disadvantage is the fact she is a woman. In a male dominated world like football that doesn’t benefit her. Most men assume she doesn’t understand the game and don’t hesitate to tell her. Jackson is the complete opposite. He immediately sees through her and it only ignites a colossal amount of respect towards Leila. He sees it as his duty to challenge her and to give her every opportunity to do what she does best. As it happens, Leila is reminiscent of himself. Someone who adores to be occupied with the game.

She’d even had a name for it, this thing between them.
“A perfect, and perfectly chaste friends-with-snuggle-benefits relationship.”
Or cuddle buddies for short.

Their first meeting is heated right away. They are both attracted to each other and the pull is tangible. The attraction between them is sizzling and the sparks are flying. Seeing that they have to work together closely, it proves to be very difficult for them to hide their feelings and to stay professional. That’s why Leila sets a couple clear limits. Leila and Jack can’t and won’t happen. A relationship between them is off-limits. Therefore forbidden and that only incites the fire.

They don’t last long and when the first kiss makes an appearance on the pages, things get very passionate. Only, they don’t have the best timing, because every time salacious things are to happen they get interrupted. Eventually, a friendship-with-benefits kind of thing comes into existence between them. Every day is spend together: in the day time at work, at Leila’s place in the evening. Often the hours are used for eating pizza’s and watching movies, until Leila falls a sleep, Jackson puts her to bed and then leaves for his own home.

Things keep heating up between the two, but Jackson is keeping a huge secret and persists his dream will never come true. His white picket fence dream. Leila knows there is something Jackson is keeping from her, but she is clueless as to what it is precisely. Until he tells her she activates a sex-ban. When Jackson’s secret is revealed, an unexpected unveiling on my part, things get a lot harder before they ease up. Then, all bets are off. Before everything blows up again, when it turns out that Leila has a very big secret herself and it appears she isn’t to be trusted. After that, their new relationship is no longer a certainty. The last revelation was even more surprising than Jackson’s secret. I just couldn’t believe it. My heart was split. I felt betrayed by Leila and even though I really wanted to hate her, I couldn’t, because of the position she was in.

“Believe me when I tell you that if I could be more for anyone in the world…it’d be you. I’d want to be that man for you. I dream of being that man for you.”

I loved Leila and Jackson together. They were very adorable together. Jackson was my favorite though. In my eyes, Jackson is the ideal guy. Silent, but intense. When he cares about you he is willing to give up his life for you, without taking credit. He really is the sweetest man ever. He’s so humble, he doesn’t seek recognition for all that he does. I developed a persistent crush on him and I fell in love with Jackson and Leila as a couple. Even though Jackson was mine first, I want them both to be happy, even if that means them being together. They are now my newest favorite book-couple.

He wanted to say the three words to her — in a rough, reverent vow pouring straight out of his heart — over and over again in bed, and a thousand times throughout the day.
But he kept it inside.
He had to…at least until he knew for sure he could keep her.

The 6-7 hours I was reading Jackson’s trust, I was fully submerged into the story. In those hours I was living in another world. A fantasy world where Leila was my best friend and Jackson was my crush. Where I felt the sweltering passion, heard all the dirty football talk and witnessed a very special kind of love. That’s what Violet’s writing does to you. She makes you feel engaged. It all starts with a powerful first chapter leaving you hooked. And it all ends with a perfect ending. The sentences may be a tad on the long side, but they are not difficult and they even make it easier to follow the story. I really think those long sentences are a big part of why it’s so easy to lose yourself in Jackson and Leila’s world.

“Soon, everyone will see what I see. Know what I know. I believe in you, Jackson. You’re destined to do great things.”

Jackson’s Trust is a light-hearted novel about unconditional love and support, the sacrifices you have to make for the ones you love, secrets that can destroy everything and white picket fence futures. This might be my first book by Violet Duke, but if I knew the exact release date of next volume in the series, I would count down the days until I could read Bennett’s story. Until then I’ll keep my dreams filled with images of Jackson and I dare Bennett to make me feel as much feelings as Jackson did right now. Please, read Jackson’s Trust if you want to be blown away by a hot romance between the amazingly sweet Jackson and the cute Leila.

“You…you not only love me unconditionally, but boundlessly, undefinably, as well. You may think that I define happiness for you, but you, Jackson Gray, continue to redefine love for me. In more ways than I’m sure I’ll ever be able to predict. In ways definitions haven’t even been invented to describe yet.”
